Ya know, I don't think race has as much to do with people not voting for Teflon as folks think. People simple do NOT like the man. Sure, there are racists out there that won't vote for him because of race but those same folks won't vote for a Mormon or a woman or a [fill in the blank].

However, I think it is far sillier to vote for someone *because* of race. This country doesn't need to fulfill MLK's dream, this country needs to dig itself out of a great big ditch full of problems.

As far as the Hispanic vote goes, historically, there has been a BIG divide between black and brown. There is still a very ingrained distrust and hate going on in the Hispanic community. The gangs are very active there and they have a lot of political pull!

However, folks who said they wouldn't vote for McNasty have now said they will. Some of those folks, Dobson, etc., have a big following.

And don't forget the PUMAs.

I disagree. I think that picking Palin, just may be a big help to him.
All the religious right needs to do is wait for a 72 year old that's
had 3 bouts with cancer to die and they are set. There are lots of
Carl Rove types that will be glad to direct then President Palin in
what she needs to do. There are tons of unelectable conservatives that
would have a hay day in that case.

I keep hearing about the religious right....I know that they support the Republicans, but honestly, I don't think their support will push McCant to victory. I believe their power is mostly a media illusion. They certainly aren't more powerful than the Hispanic vote. Republicans really need to spend more money courting the Hispanics, because their conservative culture is a good match.
If McCain wins, then I will have to reassess that illusion belief, but I tell you, I'd be just as likely to say that if Mc wins, then we have yet to fulfill MLK's dream. It is sad to say, but I wonder if we have really seen the dream fulfilled. When push comes to shove, and the choice is narrowed, people often vote differently than what they tell their friends and family.
