Hah! By the time I saw the clips that little tidbit had been deleted.
Actually -- though I wouldn't say Goddamn America, and I don't believe
HIV is a government plot to exterminate blacks -- what Reverend Wright
said was pretty much correct.

Wright seems to have a great deal of respect in Chicago theological
circles. Martin Marty, who is a professor of theology at the
University of Chicago, has spoken strongly in his favor as has Dwight
Hopkins, anothe UC theologian. Wright has a PhD in Old Testament
studies, so he's modeling his fiery sermons on an old tradition. It's
in the black tradittion -- certainly a lot more exciting than the
sermons from Catholic priests I was forced to listen to in my
childhood.

I've voted for Obama three times now: the primary for the Senate race,
the following general election, and the presidential primary. And,
btw, he won all those races with large majorities, both in the Chicago
area and downstate.
