WOW, what a difference...why didn't I think of that before? I used to
do it years ago, just forgot about the capability!
I related this story to someone in a personal email yesterday, but I'll
repeat it here because it has bearing on this web speed thing:
I subscribe to CNN alerts and have "submarine" and "volcano" listed
among my keywords. Earlier today (yesterday), I got an alert for the
Montserrat eruption and after reading that article, was expecting another
alert touting an eruption. So tonight, when the Submarine alert came
through, it caught me off guard. I clicked CNN, waited 5 minutes for the
page to load because of all the flashy ads (that's a long time in
situations like these) clicked on the story, another 2 minutes, then
finally breathed a sigh of relief when I learned it was the Newport News
and that there were no injuries.(TJ's on the Key West) During that 5
minutes or so, Ron was trying to calm me down telling me it was probably
off Japan since it was a Jap vessel, but I reminded him that the
Greeneville surfaced on a Japanese boat right off the coast of Hawaii a
few years back. Those Japanese boats are everywhere! So it was a tense
few minutes, and afterwards, I just had a crying jag.
So now, people, maybe that long wait for the pages to load won't be so
long anymore. I would say the pages I have tried in the last few
minutes have loaded 70% faster now that I took out the pics. THANK YOU!
Bev
