I am fortunate that I am not so traumatized that I cannot look at men without getting "the creeps". I know some women are. In fact, I enjoy looking at men. <G> However, I also enjoy looking at lions. I feel similar about both. I don't like to be alone an a room with them without their "handler". Even then, I have learned not to turn my back on them. They make me feel like prey. In the right setting, they are fine, but I don't think it is always wise to keep one around the house especially if you live alone. I have to know one very well before I feel comfortable letting one in my "personal space". Enough about lions. I think it would be nice to someday find a man I could call my "soul mate" and be able to live a happy life together. I don't think I ever will. I know this is by my own design. A guy who would not take a polite "Thanks, but no thanks" for an answer asked me out. I explained I don't date guys I don't know. He asked how am I to get to know anyone if I won't date. Oh, dilemma. In the meantime, I'm not lonely, just too small to do some of the work that needs to be done around here. lol

. . . the thought of having a few "sisters" around appeals to
me. After all there is safety in numbers. I hadn't thought about
this until this thread came up, but I don't think the notion of
homestead of a few ladies and a shared man sounds so wacky at all.
Not so wacky at all, indeed. There are two such enclaves north of me,
in the general area of Ava, Missouri. I have been to Hawk Hill Farm,
where perhaps a half dozen women live in several houses. No men.
There is a larger enclave west, I think, of Ava, but I have not been
there. It was started by a woman for abused women. Men are not
welcome at all because some of the women are traumatized by the mere sight.
