Lynn, have you tried going back to say $1.30 or something in between.

I agree, don't take this off list...it's an idea fest for anyone trying
to make ends meet from their homestead, especially those of us who don't
live close to major markets.
I like the nickel price increase idea. One of the things I do when I
sell rabbits is set a bulk price and a "preferred customer" price.
People who have been long time customers get better prices than new
customers. It makes people feel special, like you are doing them a
favor, and increases their loyalty to you. You just have to tell them
that only long time customers get the special rate, and that new
customers need to pay such and such due to higher feed and
transportation costs, etc. People that buy more get better prices, too.
Sometimes, I have to drive 70 miles with coolers in the truck to meet
someone who lives 150 miles away...I do that once a year with 2 rabbit
customers and they appreciate it so much that they almost always through
in an extra $10 for my gas...
I started selling frozen feeder rabbits years ago for $1/pound, and now
new customers pay $2.00 a pound. That's still cheaper than rats. My
original, long term customers pay $1.50, and new customers buying in
bulk pay 1.75.....
Lynn, I know you know all of this, but I was wondering if you used the
internet at all to market your veggies?
