Are you going to have to pay a mechanic if it needs work? The 80s are
smogged to death and the 90s and newer are all computerized and can be a
pain due to needing specific parts.

We have an 71 Chevy (gas) that we use for light hauling (feed, brush, wood)
and even though it isn't a 4x4, it seems to be having no problems hauling up
the hills. We've loaded it with way more than it supposedly should hold
(hay bales hanging out beyond the tailgate and over the cab) and haven't had
to even down shift hauling those heavy loads up a 10% grade in 115 degree
heat. It has over 300,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I did
replace the carberator about 10 years ago and the mufflers about 12 years
ago.

We bought an 88 Suburban diesel for hauling the trailer and boat and it will
go straight up the side of a mountain. We are setting up to make our own
biodiesel. Both these trucks have more than paid for themselves a couple of
times over. Our current road is 2.5 miles of dirt and rock and up and down
hills and over/through a couple of creeks. We'll see soon enough how they
handle snow but I have faith <g> It's been down to 20 degrees and they
still cranked over just like it was summer.

We've owned a couple of Fords. One was brand new and was a total lemon.
Wouldn't even make it up the Grapevine with an empty trailer, let alone a
loaded one. The other one qualified for the F-ingOldReconditionedDodge
award!

We also owned a couple of Dodges and I'll shot myself before I'll own
another one! They have weird parts and are a pain in the arse to work on!
They are way tempermental. Guess that's why the ram's head looks like
female reproductive organs <<eg>>
