On January 30, 10 days into the current resident's adminstration he already
had "plans" for Iraq and plans to cut loose Sharon because "sometimes a show
of strength by one side can really clarify things" and "maybe that's the
best way to get things back in balance."

The opening premise of Bush 43's admin was that (and I quote Rice) "Iraq is
destablishing the region."

Powell was the only voice of sanity. He believed that the sanctions were
ineffective, that the rank and file of average citizen Iraqis were no longer
supporting the U.S. and that the list of sanctions should change "from a
list of what is allowed to a list of what is prohibited." He wanted the
list to change and allow in food and medicine and not allow in what could be
used to build up the military.

He is quoted as saying (and Bush did not contradict this) "This is not
endearing us to the Iraqi people (electric power plants failing and
consequently people dying in hospitals), whose support we're hoping to
elicit--if I undertand our position correctly--TO HELP OVERTHROW THIS
REGIME."

At the end of their January 30 meeting Rumsfeld was told to "examine our
military options" which should include rebuilding the military coalition
from the 1991 Gulf war, examining "how it might look" to use U.S. ground
forces in the north and the south of Iraq and "finish what we began in '91."

On February 1, 2001, another meeting was held and the briefing materials
included "Political-Military Plan for Post-Saddam Iraq Crisis."

"From the start we were building a case against Hussein and looking at how
we could take him out and change Iraq into a new country." Bushy said "Go
find me a way to do this."

This whole thing wasn't about terrorism, 9/11 or the atrocities Saddam was
guilty of. It was about "personal debts" . . . "finish what we began in
'91" which he has referenced on more than one occasion as a means of saving
face for his father.

Of course, one has to realise that he is only a talking mouth for the cram
session he got from Rice and Wolfowitz and his idiolization of his father.
His cram sessions began in '98 and he spent 18 months being "trained" by
folks hand picked by daddy. With Wolfowitz's "blueprint for America"
(Project for a New American Century) which included pre-emptive force
against anyone even perceived to be a threat, even if it meant going it
alone in defiance of friends and allies. With ten of the neo-conservative
hawks that were part of the Project for a New American Century being in key
positions in his administration, how could anyone be surprised that Baby
Bush attacked Iraq?
