The idea about attracting JB's to primrose plants near the rose plants is tantamount to putting JB pheromones around rose plants. It's really important that you understand the life cycle of the JB and it relatives if you want to have any long term control. When you attract them to a 'foil' plant near a rose...or any other potential plant they might also feed on...the beetles feed, have sex and lay their eggs in relative proximity to the feeding site. The grubs then develop in the same area and guess what? The grubs mature the following spring, emerge as beetles during the summer and you've made sure the cycle is repeated for another season. Why in the world would you want to do that?
