Sorry, I have no interest at all in having anything to do with cygwin
mailing lists or anything else. For me, this was an exercise to test and
improve upon FreeTDS's portability. Nothing more.

I *will* work around this problem, because it's likely that I can fix
FreeTDS's installation behavior long before Cygwin will get fixed (if they
even agree this is a bug). Either we fix it in FreeTDS, or we will hear
complaints about it. I don't want complaints. End of story, really.

no sir, i disagree with you.

1. windows NT does support double slashes, altough it thinks, that an
expression starting with // is an UNC path
2. because we're talking about cygwin, cygwin has to take care about
converting UNIX-style paths to windows paths
//usr/local should be converted to c:\cygwin\usr\local
which might not happen correctly.

what "windows stupidity" concerns: this statement turned against you.

i would recomm, mailing to one of the cygwin-lists.
