Well, 6550s are actually hotter than 6L6s but if you're going to do a BBQ you're going to need to heat a larger amount of air. This is probably best for bass players to tackle, as you'll need a fairly large speaker cabinet to hang your meat in, and then a nice big 4 tube 6550/KT88 amp head might be just the heat source.

Of course, I think we should stay on topic here and concentrate on the cookie problem. I think Kirk is right that EL34s will make cookies that only taste good overcooked. It's really just a question now of how many 6L6s do we need? 2 or 4? I think maybe a two way mirror between the tubes and the baking compartment to allow IR heat from the tubes in and then trap it there.

Furthermore, bringing BBQ into the conversation also
brings up the need for smoke, which at the 506 is
plentiful. We just have to direct it over the meat.

Would you prefer Camel smoked BBQ or Parliament Light?

What about the smoke from some smoking bass lines?
