Yes! The potential of providing source is IMHO illustrated by how Stallman's four freedoms work. You can learn from the source, you can build on it and extend it, you can remake the finished work in a new medium, or you can ensure that it remains accessible to other individuals. All of this is at least as relevant to culture as to code.
