I got around to trying to download and install Opera 9.64 GCC4. Would not
run. Missing libstdc++.so.6. In /usr/lib I found libstdc++.so.5. Could I
symlink libstdc++.so.6 to libstdc++.so.5? Are these too different? Would it
be better to download a libstdc++.so.6? Did a Google on these file names.
Either libstdc++.so.6.0.3 or libstdc++.so.6.0.8 might work?

Also, syntax for the symlink command? Thanks, Terry M.

I was going to ask which version of 9.64 to install,
the GCC4 or the GCC295 version but I took a chance with
GCC295 and it appears to be working fine.

The older gcc295 version does not require libstdc++.so.6. The gcc 4 version is for a Slackware newer than 11 (which has gcc 3). There is a libstdc++.so.6 from SW11 posted at http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/ if you want to experiment but you will also need glibc from SW11 - SW11libs.tgz. I don't know if the GCC4 version will work with SW11 glibc. You also need a 2.4 kernel to use SW11 libraries with. Later SW needs 2.6 kernel.

Why do you want the GCC4 version? I doubt it does any more.
It would be helpful to get Opera 10 to work. 10.10 sort of worked (see archives) but I had the common-to-linux problem of little squares in some places instead of characters. 10.6 would not even load. Our X server does not do locales but that did not stop Seamonkey 1.1 and Opera 9.

ldconfig should make symlinks for you.
