. I will compare signal strengths using Puppy and the five
cardbus cards vs the aironet.

16-bit PCMCIA:

Linksys v 3 (orinoco) Cisco Aironet 340 (30 mW)

Cardbus:

Gigafast B (not working in XP, not found by Puppy)
Netwave B (known working in 2K)
D-Link Airplus DWL-650+ B

D-Link Airplus Xtreme G DWL-G650 (two of these, one seems dead -
XP finds it but says it has problems)
Belkin Wireless G

Tested with XP, 2/3 of the time there was no connection but, with the wireless router 20' away around the corner, sometimes the Aironet got a 3/5, sometimes the Belkin and 650+ got 5/5, sometimes the G650 got 1/5.
Did not test the Netwave (I was given it with a 2K laptop, working)

Puppy signal strength

router in same room (5') other end of house (20')
through walls

Orinoco -- --
(card does not provide this info)

Airo 340 100/100 52/100

Netwave 0 0
(Received but was not sending signals. Works fine in 2K).

Airplus 650+ 100 69
Airplus G650 52/100 48/100

Best at getting weaker signal:

Airplus 650+ (B, cardbus) 79% (?) of weak signal
Aironet 340 second best 53% of weak signal
Belkin (G, cardbus) 48% of weak signal
Airplus G650 (G, cardbus) 40% of weak signal

Orinoco will not pick up a weak signal found by Aironet 340.

The Aironet 350 might beat them all.
I would still like to get the 650+ and the others to work.
Plus might mean greater signal range.
