2.b. Hi-ASCII chars are *lost*, replaced by blank graphics. Most
annoying.
I have no definite idea whether the replacement is done by Lynx,
which
might 'think' the terminal is not capable of displaying them, in a
way
similar that it thinks it cannot display colours, - or -
whether the terminal itself is incapable of, or else not set for,
displaying hi-ASCII :=(

In BL2 (with icewm and Xvesa) the extended ascii characters (iso-8859-1, default charset) display properly in X with lynx or pico or e3pi.

In BL3.50 they are indeed missing (blank) with lynx or e3pi, with either jwm or no wm at all. Same Xvesa as in BL2, same lynx and e3pi (all uclibc-static).

So it is not lynx or jwm causing this problem.

BL2 is using rxvt from SW7.1. Where is the BL3.50 rxvt from?
Are BL3.50 fonts lacking the extended characters to save space?
