I can now connect to and dial my modem, but it hangs up
_immediately_ after the dialing is done.

I'm using a more recent pppd than the one that came with BL3, but
the eznet manpage says that it is designed for 2.3 and better, so
it didn't seem necessary to set the "pppdversion" option. Got no
pppd error messages.

My debian /etc/ppp/options (for the same pppd) contains the
option "noauth" which doesn't appear in the manpage for the stock
BL3 pppd. But it doesn't seem like this would cause the problem
here.
