Try pressing g and entering a numerical (dotted quad)
address (like http://66.35.250.150). Does that work?

For pap/chap authentication the login and password
prompts do not appear. The key line is CONNECT.

Is that speed right for your modem?

After you get the CONNECT, do the following:

Does it show a default route to the internet?
