I bet you're right.

Ah, thank you, Steven.

As of now, computer 'other' shows the Linux is from 2.2.16 June 16 2000
(snipped)
The /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/rtl8139.o is 16,948 of April 7, 2005?
Should I be using the 16880 Mar 2 2004 module with BL 2.1? Where would I
get that?

When I use the bzimage.big ( 759045 bytes)
with BL 3.40 on this 'asus' computer
( uname -a says in part: Linux 2.2.26 Dec 5),

and tell it

mount -t nfs 192.168.1.1:/ /other

it waits a while, and then says a couple of times:

portmap: RPC call returned error 5

and sometimes it also says

lockd_up: makesock failed, error= -5

But after I get the command prompt back, and do a df ,

the other computer _is_ mounted on /other/

???

Thanks also to Sindi,

Sheldon
