I always seem to have to tinker with lilo.conf in some way.
I cant remember exactly what I did but Im pretty sure I would
not have removed "read-write" if it was there. I used
the lilo package from SW4.0 and its quick install program
to set things up.
There wasnt a /etc/lilo.conf in my copy of BL3.3 before
I used the SW4.0 package.
Incidently, the install-to-hd script doesnt create /boot
or copy the kernel across. This has to be done by hand

For Lilo generally, I dont know, but the versions that
come with SW, seem to like to set themselves up ro.
