With the MD220 Cirrus K56flex(X2) modem I use the following line:

AT+MS=V34B,0,28800,33600,28800,33600

that means:

+MS specifies the allowable conection modulation and data rate.

V34B: do not try to connect as K56flex(X2), try V34B instead.

0 or 1: automode enable

The following 4 numbers are min and max data allowed speed for
receiving and tranmiting.
