It's interesting you mention that. When I boot BL3 directly
(without using DOS/loadlin.exe), Xvesa seems to be faster and
more responsive. I am beginning to think that booting from
DOS (any DOS) is not good for Xvesa. I will probably be
recommending that people do a HD install and boot with LILO.

The BL3 zip package was designed to be unzipped using a DOS
unzipper (and then booted from the same DOS). The unzipper
in BL3 is a mini-version from busybox and it is not as capable.

Yes, fs.img is the problem. It is a very large file with a
very high compression ratio. Something in there is tripping
up the busybox unzipper.

You can get wd.o (and other NIC modules) from Slackware 7.1.
I removed it to make room for PCMCIA modules. I do have a
small bit of room remaining which I can use for another module
or two, but I will wait to see how the PCMCIA situation develops
before I decide which module(s) to add.
