I have not looked yet. BL3 works fine via loop. I am not going to get
into this until I get my new computers together and sort through all my
old notes and about 700 saved emails. And read about how to write shell
scripts so I can learn from what you wrote. This has been quite an
education and has kept me from getting bored since September.

I just found another thing that can be done with console instead of X -
splitvt lets you split the console up into 2 or more windows and copy
between them instead of using 'screen' (which is full-screen). I was
using ratpoison for split screen but that requires X. The documentation
for splitvt is rather sparse and it took an hour of experimenting to
figure out that you mark the beginning of a block with the space bar, move
with hjkl keys rather than arrow keys, and mark the end of a block with a
space to copy. It works a lot easier than screen. 41K, part of bin.tgz.
1995. You can run bash in one window and top in another. I don't know if
it would save any RAM to use this instead of two terminals in BL3.
