swapon /dev/hda3 (location of the swap partition on the system in
question) gets the response from the system: swapon: not found

The command /bin/busybox/swapon /dev/hda3 gets the response:
/bin/busybox/swapon: cannot execute.

My conclusion: it ain't workin' for some reason.

/bin/busybox/which gets the response: /bin/busybox/which: cannot execute.
