Because coumpound shewa's are late (they don't appear in the palestinian
or "simple babylonian" punctuation AT ALL).

I.e. I would argue that perhaps in the time the coumpound shewa was introduced
by the masoretes the spelling of YHWY already had an shewa.

BTW, please know, that the way a tetragramm is written differs considerably
even among various tiberian manuscripts...
