Dear Jerry Holmaas:

The problem is not the Macintosh OS, because since at least OS 9 with
the language packs included with the OS, to OS X with the language
packs included in the OS, there has been no problem with reading at
least the consonantal text. However, not all programs running on the
OS make use of the language packs, and some email servers do not
accurately transmit other than ASCII, and that could be where your
problems lie.

I am using Mac OS X.4.10 on all my Macs (including a 13 year old 7500)
and all the browsers tested (Safari, Camino (Mozilla), Opera, iCab)
have had no problem reading Hebrew in online email accounts.

Karl W. Randolph.
