Dear Isaac,

OK, but what if the man is telling the truth; he indeed did not find evidence of her virginity.

HH: The laws outlines two possibilities: either he was making up the charge, or she was guilty of promiscuity. Those are the only two situations treated under the law.

And the wife admits herself that she was not a virgin upon marriage, claiming to have lost her hallmark while riding her donkey, boys style, over some rough terrain. What then?


HH: That would have been a special circumstance not covered by the law that would have had to be dealt with in the most logical way.


"Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die"?


HH: The law deals with a situation where the woman was guilty of promiscuity. That's the only one it deals with when there was a loss of virginity prior to marriage.
