I accept that this parsing is not totally impossible, although unlikely. But this still means accepting a unique sense of XESED as suggesting some kind of command.


I don't follow you here, how can this be a command?


I understand your interpretation as something like "The right/faithful thing to do is to cut them off...", i.e. as a way of introducing a command.
