If there is that other evidence, this argument fails in the sense that
it becomes unnecessary, yes. But how much other evidence is there? I
am very suspicious of evidence of dating from place names, for even if
they are only attested at one period the places existed at other
periods and most likely had the same name. Dating from names of
peoples may have a slightly firmer basis, but can still be accused of
being an argument from the silence of records at other times.

The "anachronism" argument about Ur Kasdim falls if we accapt that the
appearance of the Chaldeans is tied to the appearance of the Arameans in
the 12th century and connect this with other evidence that the
Patriarchal traditions originate in the 12th-11th centuries.
