Aloha,

been much discussion but little action on this critical task.

Agreed. I've been pushing doing it but don't have much time at the moment to actually do it.

Perhaps a Wiki would be of assistance in writing this document?

I think a CVS system where we check out documents to add/edit/comment would be better.
This is what many tech/dev companies use for collaborative spec/def creation.
Can use same one for code base as well.
I am not knowledgeable about setting one up.
Still curious if we can just use Sourceforge (there was a potential license issue with PFAF material as I recall?), and/or other similar online open-source CVS to get going on this.

Wiki would be fine for more public/freeform stuff - brainstorming, non-core-team input, example docs/resources and so on.
Not well suited to a formal spec process IMO.
Editing/formatting options are limited, not WYSIWYG and cannot be worked on off-line (which is an issue for me even if no one else).
Never seen a commercial company use a wiki for core spec/def work.

In any case - IMO we need to decide what the collaborative spec/def document collaboration system is before starting on docs!

I say get a CVS going ASAP.

cheers,
John S.
