I have an nForce2 based mobo so I use the NVIDIA_nforce spell for sound and
ethernet. The ethernet driver is of course a module(at this point I woke
up)...

I hadn't recast the NVIDIA_nforce spell so there was no 2.2.24 module for
nvnet.o and dhcpd had nothing to listen on. A recast fixed it. Thanks for
the memory(mind) toggle.
