I actually added -d to download the latest sources as well, and just
took the defaults on the gcc and double checked that the include
thingy was set to no. I just had no idea that the gcc compiler had
expanded so much out of the c/c++ domain. I should go and visit its
site and read about it.

Nothing against a java compiler, just surprised that it is included
with gcc, which leads to a question:
Does this mean I can use gcc instead of javac to compile .java files?
And if so, does it byte compile them, or compile them to native code,
so they would produce an linux executable?

If this is off topic, let me know, and thanks for all the help.

Thanks, that puts things in perspective.

Hi there,

I just install base of sourcemage. But my network card does not work.
I reconfigure kernel (make menuconfig in /usr/src/linux) and add support
for my network card.
Configuration was saved.

And question is:
How can I correctly recompile and install new kernel?

Thanks.

Stano Paska.
