I completely agree that more branches is not a solution. What I suggest implies that I don't mind sorcery breaking in the middle of the day. Because of the time zones etc., there's really no point in sticking to end-of-the-day-integrity. If it breaks at noon, it would get integral in four hours again, maybe.
Actually, I'm saying this for the sake of the argument, because everyone can check it out of CVS anyway. If people start doing this too often for your server to tolerate, we might need readjustment of schedule.
Thanks!

Sergey.

Well we aren't going to get into the business of hourly (or close to
hourly) CVS tarball. The main reason being that the CVS repository
can get broken sometimes in the middle of the day. I try to make a concious effort to stabilize my work before the nightly tarball is
created (not that it always helps).

I think the only option to satisfy what you are suggesting would
be to just have another branch, sorcery-cvs which does a real-time
anonymous checkout from cvs.sourcemage.org. Although I personally
do not like the idea (two branches is enough). Some people have asked
for it...

Is it possible to pull devel sorcery from CVS every, say, four hours?

Also, ViewCVS has a feature that allows one to dynamically create a tarball of any given directory (and I have patches to make it tar.bz2 instead of tar.gz). This is an additional load on the server, but if Nick is not against enabling the feature and restricting access to, say, pre-set IP address or domain of sourcemage.org, it might be even easier to pull updates from CVS. I assume no "repackaging" is required, of course. What do you say, Nick, Ryan?
Thanks!

Sergey.

Cast was fixed in CVS this afternoon, I'm not sure why it didn't make it
into the nightly tarball. Tomorrow should be safe.
The sorcery update on the other hand has not been fixed yet and should
have a bug opened for it.
