I didn't mean anything wrong. We're still patching some of the spells, and that's the way I know: patch and recompile. I'm trying to understand if what you did is /safe/, because I'm running production servers on SMGL. In my case, I /know/ it's safe because none of the packages use db 4.0, but I'm not so sure about the general case.

Certain DB initialization function increased the number of parameters between 4.0 and 4.1. What would keep software relying on your solution from dumping core or smashing the stack because of this change? They'll be calling with one parameter less than required. How did you test that something actually works because of this fix? I don't mean linkage, I mean functionality. I apologize if I'm missing something abvious here.
