it was for that reason that i decided not to make a symlink on my system and
too rebuild the system against the newer version of db.
this was a major version upgrade not just a minor one. If we had gone from
4.0.14 to 4.0.15 i would not have hesitated to do this.the best solution to
this is to make a post install file for certain apps like zlib has.
that way when the major version changes everything linked against it gets
rebuilt.
