hi,

I haven't upgraded firefox because of these issues. I'm wondering if freetype is going to be downgraded to prevent these problems?

Cheers, Duane.

Bingo! That was the magic - putting freetype2 down to 2.1.7 on all my systems cleared up the firefox issue on every single one.

As a note to anyone else who's having these issues - if you've cleared firefox off your system and are rebuilding it after downgrading freetype2, you'll have to comment out the freetype patch line at the beginning of firefox's BUILD file.

Now to find out how to get mplayerplug-in to build...

I had firefox crashing problems, which started for me when freetype2 was updated. Backing freetype2 down to 2.1.7 made everything stable for me again.
As others have mentioned, cleaning out your plugin directories, and
your profile directories may help if that doesn't.

Hey all,

Is nobody else having problems with Mozilla / Firefox? On *every*
system I've upgraded to the latest Firefox on, it's become an extremely
unstable POS, if it runs at all (and yup, I know about firing it up as
root first)... and yet, the version in the stable grimoire is now 0.9.2
as well. When downgrading Firefox to 0.8.0, it no longer runs?

Is there getting to be a real mess of libraries, mozilla startup scripts, or other things going on, or am I having real bad luck?

I apologise for being so brief, but this problem appears too broad to be just a single issue on a single system...
