Well, i know for a fact that lilo won't boot any kernel newer than
2.4.17.

It gives some strange error message when it tries to boot, don't
remember it. When that happened (right after my upgrade to 2.4.18), i
googled around a bit and found very few information, but it seems it's a
problem with some bios related to kernel size. The only fix i found was
installing grub.
