We just found an extremely cheap source for insulated plastic windows (double
pane).

My questions is: Does anyone have experience with using these? Especially
versus glass?

I cannot find much infomation on their efficiency letting light in, retaining
heat, etc.
We cannot afford a glass greenhouse right now, but if the drawback of plastic
windows are relatively small we might piece together one.

Thanks all.

Polycarbonate sheets/panels, varying thicknesses from 1/8" to 3/8",
possibly other; sheets 4X8 and 5X10 feet, maybe other.
Polycarbonate is the only way to go, forget polyethylene, pvc, acrylic (all
darken with age).I have two rolling shop doors 5'X10'
and two shop windows each 4'X8'. You build the frames out of 2X4 and 2X6
SPF west coast framing lumber; drill holes in the
polycarbonate panels and screw them to the frames with special stainless
steel screws with large rubber grommets underneath the heads.
I can take pix of these if you want to see what they look like installed. I
installed the windows side by side for a 16' OA window and hinged them
at the top so they can be opened in warm weather for ventilation. These
materials would be perfect for a greenhouse or attached sunspace.
In a greenhouse use nontoxic pressure treated lumber instead of framing
grade SPF.
