Over the years I have posted my knowledge and hands on experiences with a number of insulation materials used in construction and how they are used and installed. I went into a lot of detail in some posts. I have been there and done that, built the highly insulated buildings.

Make the up front investment and reap the rewards for many years. Build
better, not larger.
Basic materials:

foil and foil-backed insulation, flexible foam panels

rigid foamboard panels

spray on foam insulation, hard-setting, waterproof only

insulating concrete/masonry products
Hebel & Aercon products, blocks and steel reinforced panels

log construction

Heating options:

Russian stoves
Finnish stoves
Masonry Stoves
high efficiency wood burning stoves
Rocket stoves

solar thermal heaters, reflectors and collectors
solar closets (Google Nick Pine)
