Interesting Paul, and I plant black locusts for most of the reasons you
mentioned. However, I only plant them on hills where my animals aren't,
because it's my understanding that they are poisonous to livestock. Honey
locust, on the other hand, are great, and I gather bags of the pods each
fall to feed during the winter as a protein source.

Anyone else have firsthand experience???
