It kind of is on topic in a way, linux is a great OS for older computers and
fits in with the reuse/recycle ethos, and the whole way it's built,
collaboratively and openly, is very much perma stylee.
I really recommend that you go take a look at http://www.blagblagblag.org ,
it has free downloads of their version of linux. Its built by some activists
based in london, comes with tonnes and software and has a very helpful and
friendly forum if you have any probs
