Title: Re: [permaculture] Ailanthus
Rick,
thanks for the info about Ailanthus, I'll consider all that when I write down my design for the place.

As about the spanish documentation, well I am going after it like a mad!!!
Some time ago I sent a messsage to this list looking for references but had no answer.
I am running a web portal which is supposed to be a pool of documents on permaculture in spanish
and people can submit what they have por publication, but I have not had any submissions yet after
little more than a year.
Have a look http://www.permacultura-es.org, the amount of documents there is very little, if you know of any spanish speaking authors
please tell them to get in touch with me.

All the best
Antonio

does anyone know any permacultural use for the Ailanthus trees
which here in Spain (Barcelonas' area at least) are considered a weed?

They must be called "tree of heaven" for a reason! Besides the coppice making good compost and mulch in summer, It is the primary food plant for the large and showy Ailanthus silk moth, which while never really making it as a commercial silk species could be raised for the esthetic value and as a subject for school  science projects. have been told that it is excellent animal fodder (by a small farm homesteader in semi-arid British Columbia)  I cannot verify that, and more than that I do not know.

btw, Antonio, I am interested in sources for written permaculture material en Espanol, if you have any suggestions.
