I think there is a difference between free and fair marketplaces and
capitalism. I am all for the former, but the latter is as destructive
as bureaucratic Soviet style socialism.

Capitalism can't work without violence, both structural violence in
the form of special preferences for owners and manipulators of
capital, and more direct forms of violence like wars and police
violence. the present standard of living in the developed
capitalistic countries is much more due to their vicious state
supported violence than it is to supposed free markets. in fact, we
don't have free and fair markets in this country, and we won'tas long
as we have corporations.

Permaculture is a form of non violent resistence to capitalistic
violence, and is a positive statement in favor of free and fair
markets.

Like democracy, capitalism is a very flawed system - but IMO they're
both miles ahead of whatever is in second place.
