Exactly as John says. The CC-BY-NC-SA is not compatible with
propriety data. The PFAF dataset (at least some versions) is
currently licensed under the CC-BY-NC-SA. The proprietary data in
question, I believe, is the PFAF images. I have in the past suggested
that we donate money to the PFAF project for all their hard work and
encourage them (with no obligations) to release the images under a
copyleft license. Unfortunately with the extremely limited amount of
funding we have I don't think this is the time to do that.

While on the topic of spending, Richard Morris writes:

I don't think that this is a good use of the limited funding we have.
Getting all of us together could easily eat up 25% of the funds
without, IMO, a corresponding 25% benefit to the project.

Yes there are a number of easy ways to set up two+ way conversations
on the 'net. I actually do think the we can communicate addequately
and effectively completely with e-mail, but I know some people prefer
a little more.

Agreed.

Agreed.

Agreed, whatever it costs, but it's more like $12/year plus hosting
costs.

Agreed more or less.

I'm interested in expenditures that yield the most product and I'm not
sure about this one really adds up.

Like I said above.

As above, I think this is a stage 2+ idea... and if HG really garners
the support of the PC community we are going to be swimming in photos.

To me, this seems like the area where the most input yields the most
output.
