hello everyone and Paula,

(Paula, I haven't heard from you in a while, so I am Cc-ing you directly.
In case you haven't learned, we received $10,000 worth of funding from
the Threshold Foundation! Read below...)

So all this talk about holy guacamole is making me want some. Whenever I
eat it, I know that I'll think of yalls ;) Am I getting sentimental?
Maybe...

Anyways. Down to business. Here are my responses to the issues raised:

- As for a licensing, I would recommend a Creative Commons License.
Please check it out at http://creativecommons.org/ and let me know what
you think.

-I'm not sure when we are fully funded, but I suggest we get started now
(and sure, go ahead and track your hours). Because the work we do will
assist us in securing funding in the future, and I am submitting a grant
in the fall to the Whole Systems Foundation - so something to show would
be fantastic.

-Instant messaging? Ugh. But yes, it would be useful - do we want to
use this?

-As for incorporating information, we could use the PFAF dataset or
Paula's database. Rich and Paula, what do you say?

-I Love going with HG, especially when people ask what it stands for.
And we'll have to eat it at our reunion someday... Having grown up in a
Mexican household, I definitely make some delicious guacamole. You'll
have to tell me if it qualifies as holy, though. I also like Rich's idea
of starting a Guacamole Institute. What would that entail? Anyone know
about this kind of thing?

-As for URLs, I like the open plants idea. I wouldn't go with anything
to complicated, like pcplantdb, because it's harder for people to
remember. I also like going with something that refers to relationships,
networks, strands (of a web), or in between - considering that this is
about relationships between plants. www.inbetween.org is available -
nice and simple? What do you say?

-Also, can I please be included on the tech list even though I won't
understand anything? (Unless it's completely pointless for me to be on
it - but I would like to just see what you techies are up to.)

-Finally, I will write an initial draft of message to lists and send it
to you for comments within the next few days. Be thinking of any lists
that you know of that we could send it to (I'm sure Lawrence knows them
all!)

Allrighty, enjoy the full moon...

peace
*Stephanie

That's a good one. Also openplantdb or opensourceplantdb.

Who will get any/all the domains for 'the project', i.e.
secure them from register.com or elsewhere and who will own any/all of
them?

What about the Permaculture Institute and/or PFAF owning the domain(s)
actually used
for 'the project' or HG, as it were. Maybe Stephanie could form a non
profit called
The Guacamole Institute with the Permaculture Institure and PFAF on the
board of directors
and the rest of us as members/officers/advisory staff?

Sorry to see you go. I'll post to the pfaf list when things
are a bit further along the line.

It the meantimes it would be interesting to know if you have a wish
list of features you would like to see. I know you mentioned
something about a seed database what did you have in mind?
