Pears make outstanding pies.. especially with a bit of fennel seed and lemon
zest.
And Pears roasted in wine are edible.. and the leftovers make really good
pear ice cream

Pear preserves, like wild strawberry, plum or other fruit, sweet and for
pastries or on toast or with cheese
... and as a condiment sweet/sour pickled pears with ginger (& maybe
allspice, cloves, etc.) just as good if not better than watermelon rind
pickle
pear jam is another delicacy; I would try mixing pear with wild plum for
a tart but sweet jam
