Lee, I have so far only grown Kazake without any cover but this coming winter I am leaving several others uncovered.  I have two varieties from Chris Inhulsen in GA, his numbers 8 and 14.  Both of these have lasted many years for him.  His #8 is the one Edible Landscaping is selling as Russian Hardy and I know of several other people having good luck with that one; there is a good chance it is Salatsvaki (Chris lost the names); I also have heard several good reports on that one.  Kazake seems to be the very best based on what I have heard.

Scott, what are the variety names of your pomegranates?
