Another plus for Keiffer pears is that they are outstanding dehydrated.

Wow! That's a first! I don't think I've ever seen anyone put Keiffer in the 'dessert' pear category.
It is one of my favorites - it's THE pear of my childhood, it's fireblight tolerant, and bears heavily despite benign neglect.
But most folks denigrate it as barely edible(not ME!), and relegate it to the 'canning/preserves' category.
