Speaking of which, if anyone knows good sources to taste berries via mail order (most likely that'd mean jam) please share.
I'm interested in Marionberry (blackberry) Cascade (blackberry) Taylor (raspberry) and all the wild blueberry relatives out in the Pacific NW. Whoa! That's far too much to test the flavor of a berry. As a comparison, first class mail for 12 ounces at 42 cents per ounce would be $5.04. Of course one has to allow a little extra for the glass jar and packaging, but $14.68 seems pretty extreme. I'm afraid most of their sales will be limited to the Gervais area in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Betty Mayfield At 08:34 PM 4/3/2009, you wrote: Pardon. They might sell that stuff in their shop, but over the internet they only sell jam and syrup.

Here's a place you can visit now, get frozen Marionberries, and also freshly made pies. They grow their own, so you'll be able to get unadulterated fruit. And you can get several other kinds of berries. http://www.baumanfarms.com/ -Lon Rombough NEW grape pruning video: http://www.bunchgrapes.com/dvd.html View a short, low resolution clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q58zFY0B1M Grapes, writing, consulting, my book, The Grape Grower, at http://www.bunchgrapes.com Winner of the Garden Writers Association "Best Talent in Writing" award for 2003. Scott,
My only encounter with Marion berries has been with pie in a restaurant, and I found them to have no distinctive flavor. However, since Michael said people have been mixing inferior berries in with them and passing them off as Marion, it may be that my piece of pie was mixed berries. I know Cascade are too tender to ship commercially.
I guess the only real way to make sure of what you are getting is to grow them yourself.

But they did have a unique refined taste that I liked a lot. If they were hardy in my zone I would want to grow them. I still have a couple left that are still alive but have been dying back nearly every winter.
