To the list,

I decided to order a jar of Marionberry jam to sample the flavor, but found that the 12-oz. jar cost $3.95, but shipping and handling was $14.68. Whoa! That's far too much to test the flavor of a berry. As a comparison, first class mail for 12 ounces at 42 cents per ounce would be $5.04. Of course one has to allow  a little extra for the glass jar and packaging, but $14.68 seems pretty extreme.

I'm afraid most of their sales will be limited to the Gervais area in Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Pardon.  That was aimed more at Betty or others close enough to go to Bauman's.

They might sell that stuff in their shop, but over the internet they only sell jam and syrup.

Here's a place you can visit now, get frozen Marionberries, and also freshly made pies.  They grow their own, so you'll be able to get unadulterated fruit.  And you can get several other kinds of berries.  http://www.baumanfarms.com/

Scott,

My only encounter with Marion berries has been with pie in a
restaurant, and I found them to have no distinctive flavor. However,
since Michael said people have been mixing inferior berries in with
them and passing them off as Marion, it may be that my piece of pie
was mixed berries. I know Cascade are too tender to ship commercially.

I guess the only real way to make sure of what you are getting is to
grow them yourself.

Betty, I also tried some of the Cascade berries from Raintree.  They
were not hardy enough, and they were not as flavorful as my Marions.
But they did have a unique refined taste that I liked a lot.  If they
were hardy in my zone I would want to grow them.  I still have a
couple left that are still alive but have been dying back nearly every
winter.
