Planting a ring of Dafs around the base of fruit trees is an old permaculture trick to keep mice and other varmints from chewing on the bark in winter.
That sounds interesting. Is there any research to back this up? I'm having trouble imagining how daffodils could do anything in winter, when their leaves are long gone.

For those who do this, how far from the trunk should the ring be?

Melissa
