What color is the flesh and what is the shape of the fruit (round oblong, heart shaped etc.)? It sounds like Elephant Heart. The flesh color would be reddish on Elephant Heart.

Nearly all the plums in California shipped for the fresh market are Japanese Hybrid plums.

The skin is a bit tart, the inside is sweet but not flavourful. The
stone came out easily. The fruit slices nicely. It is juicy to eat,
but not messy. It would be attractive on a salad plate, fanned out
to look like a flower.

It is not like other commercial plums I have bought that are sour
around the stone and in the skin - the kind I won't buy anymore.

I will leave the others to ripen some more.
